After witnessing the power of identifying and applying core principles of healing in our own lives, we have created a unique pattern of progression for each of our CSH Community Councils that helps us work through specific areas of concern in a unified way. Whether you are personally experiencing difficulties, or love someone who is, we believe these 6 action steps can be applied universally to any challenge. Those attending meetings may choose to listen only and/or share experience, strength and hope as suits their individual situation and comfort level. It has been our experience that hearing another’s story is often fertile ground for self-discovery.
SIX ACTION STEPS
# 1. We came to know for ourselves how debilitating and scary it can be when our mind or behavior feels out of control.
# 2. We came to believe that greater healing, peace, and happiness was possible for us, with the help of people around us and the assistance of a Power greater than ourselves.
# 3. Chose to turn to God – as we understand God – to receive guidance and motivation in what we need to do (or not do) to find more healing.
#4. Began a gentle and loving exploration of our life as a whole, acknowledging areas of strength, along with areas that may be painful or uncomfortable to examine.
# 5. As our awareness of life factors contributing to our emotional pain grew, we stayed open and willing to follow our “next right step” in an ongoing process of continuous learning and growth.
# 6. As we found greater happiness, peace and healing, we embraced a life of connection and support for others in their own journey seeking the same.
Ideally we want each council to serve as a launching pad, an opportunity for self discovery and connection with others that can then be translated into a new way of living. We believe that as we begin to recognize these simple patterns of progression emerging in our own lives, and with this awareness make choices to move in a direction of deeper healing, we will discover a new freedom and also the strength to reach out in service to the community as a whole, regardless of the nature or severity of our own present position or the challenges facing those we love.
